That is all about the ability to communicate a bigger picture and sell them on the need to be part of the bigger picture. Still some people won’t care and they should leave so that someone with better vision can be brought on board.
Most people want to be part of something larger than themselves. This what we need to communicate to them.
The bigger picture includes the future for not only themselves but for the team as a whole. What are your goals? Tell them, right them on a big board if you have too. But they need to know them.
I think getting excited about a company goal is only as exciting as the reward that awaits the individual once it is accomplished. It can be a monetary thing, bragging rights or something else but there is always a personal interest at stake in addition to the big picture.

the bigger picture is the light on the horizon and the personal interests are the smaller goals that lead us to the horizon with more effort than just our own goals.
